smartDESIGN designed a new house on a large, heavily wooded lot hidden at the end of a dead-end road in the village of Attica. The house is nestled into a slope that descends to a deep ravine. The orientation presents a modest one story house as one approaches but opens to two stories with a covered deck and lower patio that look toward the ravine and the woods. The floor plan is wide open so that the kitchen, dining room, and family room all have great views of the surrounding landscape. Natural stone and exposed wood trusses help to strengthen to connection to the site.
