A new family entertainment area in an unfinished basement of a suburban home.  The design includes a custom hardwood paneled bar with granite counters and a stone veneer wall, an entertainment center with a flat screen television over a gas fireplace, an informal work area with built-in counter seating, and a private exercise room. A new drywall ceiling was used to subtly differentiate the distinct areas and to conceal existing ductwork, plumbing, and wiring. Lighting was layered into the space to provide flexibility depending on the use of the moment and to remove any “basement” feel of the space.
