smartDESIGN designed a new family room, kitchen, and sun room addition for a hilltop country home in rural Western New York. The existing under-sized living room was converted to a generous dining room adjacent to the new living room and kitchen. The original kitchen was cramped and secluded. The new kitchen is centrally located, open to the living room and adjacent to the sun room; a favorite spot for morning coffee or overlooking the pool in summer. There is a large, stone clad fireplace and beautiful hardwood built-up trusses in the living room. The covered porch accessed from the living room continues the truss structure to the outside and provides unobstructed views of acres of open fields bounded by woods.
